Friends of World Music seeks to:
- Spark interest in world music among Triangle residents, especially among those not yet familiar with world folk traditions
- Help preserve folk traditions by providing venues for artists to share their cultural heritage
- Promote global understanding by exposing Triangle residents to culture and ways of life different from our own.
- Entertain!! Of course, in addition to learning something, it is always our goal to provide a social outing with a twist.
We are a tax-exempt, non-profit, all volunteer organization incorporated in 1991 which brings world music and dance to the Triangle, NC area. Friends of World Music supports local as well as international performers of world music and dance, and its programs help people understand the many cultures of the world. Funding comes from an occasional grant and from its members.
